Handball or team handball is an interesting game and is greatly played and liked by people all over the world. It is also known as the Olympic handball or European handball and is usually an indoor game although outdoor variants of the game is also been played. Two teams are required to play a game of handball which necessarily should have seven players each in both the teams. The ball is passed between the players and the scoring point depends on when the player of one team throws the ball into the goal of the other team and making the goals keeps up the score. But, when the game first started, scoring was very similar to that of an ice hockey match and was never easy. However, when the advancements to offensive play were brought in the 1980s, scoring goals became quite easy and thus increased.
There are data which has been found that a form of handball was played in the medieval France during the middle Ages, but the handball of today was actually created by a gym instructor from Denmark who made the game rules in 1898 and popularized it by publishing the same in 1906. In 1925, an official international game of handball was played between the men of Germany and Belgium.
Handball is played between two teams of seven players each wherein in a team six are field players and one is the goalkeeper who defends the goal of his own team. Mostly the game is played in two parts of thirty-minutes each and two referees are actually needed for the game. Free throws are one form of penalties and severe punishments is also given to those players who do not abide by the rules.
