The Family Road Trip Checklist
Family vacations and getaways are great, just be sure to remember to plan your road trip as well. Sure, you can use websites as your map to your destination, but often times the basics on how to enjoy a road trip is overlooked.
Remember to bring music and DVDs
With music, not only can you pass the time but you also realize you actually have a shot to win on American Idol. If you have kids and wish to keep them occupied, then put on some classical CD or music from a kid’s TV show. If your vehicle has a DVD player then bring some movies for the kids. With your kids occupied, time will pass by quickly and the music can even inspire a family sing-a-long.
Remember to Bring the snacks
It’s important to bring snacks for everyone to munch on. Bringing snacks may be simple but it’s still easily forgotten, because usually people are in a hurry to leave. When you bring snacks like fruit cups and yogurt, don’t forget to bring the plastic utensils as well. It’s also a good idea to bring cleaning wipes, napkins, and paper towels. Sometimes, when you put kids and food and a moving car altogether, the result is usually a mess.
Don’t forget the entertainment for your kids
To avoid boredom and also keep your kids occupied, bring books, toys, and games. Other games, such as “I spy with my eye” can also get the family involved and make time fly by. Traveling with kids doesn’t have to be distracting as long as they’re occupied with other activities.
Emergency supplies – check
Bring sun screen, blankets, first aid kits, etc. on your trip, depending of course, where your road trip is taking you. You never know when there’s going to be an emergency or get stuck in bad traffic, so it’s better to bring some basic supplies with you.
Vehicle ready? Check
Before you hit the road, get your vehicle tuned up first. That also means getting an oil change and making sure your fluids are up to the proper level. You don’t want to have car trouble in an unfamiliar territory, do you?
Follow these simple suggestions and your family road trip will be enjoyable and when you arrive at your destination, you’ll have plenty of energy to enjoy the rest of your vacation with your family.
